I am part of God's Big Family Play Dough Mat

For those of you who have followed this blog over a period of time, you will probably know that last month saw the publication of my first book. I am so excited about it! The book looks amazing and has loads of ideas for helping you to introduce Holy Communion to under 5s. There are play sessions for Creche areas, sessions for more formal children's church settings and ideas for when you have no children's groups at all. There is also a section for what families can do at home to explore the main themes.

Button Prayers

If you are looking for an active, kinaesthetic, way of praying in a small group or even with the whole congregation, then this might be for you! You will need: A collection of buttons of different shapes, sizes and colours- at least one button for each person praying. Give everyone a button. Feel the hardness of the button and think about people who are going through hard times. Ask God to help them. Buttons are used to fasten clothes together. Trusting God: The Amazing Water Glass Trick!

I used this idea in an assembly yesterday, focussing on people we trust and what it means to trust God. This would work really well if you are exploring miracle stories or stories about trust. Suitable verses to use with it might be: Joshua 1:9: Remember, I commanded you to be strong and brave. The Lord's Prayer: Crafts, games and prayer activities

On Saturday, Powersource explored the Lord's Prayer, looking creatively at every section. Here's how we broke it down and what we did. Some activities have links to posts which will explain in more detail. Please note that we had a 3 hour session so that's how we fitted so much in! Warm up- Order the Lord's prayer ( how much can you remember?). Prayer printed out and cut into strips, mixed up so they can be put in the correct order. We made this a race!
