Praying for Peace Printable Play Dough Mat

Across the world we are seeing violence, war and unrest and it is understandable that children will have questions about what they see and feel. Giving the opportunity to discuss and explore questions and prayers for peace is important and this is a resource to help in a hands on way. While using the play dough, children will have space to think and talk if that is what they would like to do.

Cover with a plastic sheet protector for multiple uses and give children space to explore.

Talk about:

  • what is peace?
  • what is a 'peacemaker'? How would you recognise a peacemaker?
  • What could you do to be a peacemaker?
  • Where in the world will you pray for?

Trusting God: The Amazing Water Glass Trick!

I used this idea in an assembly yesterday, focussing on people we trust and what it means to trust God.   This would work really well if you are exploring miracle stories or stories about trust.  Suitable verses to use with it might be:  Joshua 1:9: Remember, I commanded you to be strong and brave. Don’t be afraid, because the  Lord  your God will be with you wherever you go.” Psalm 56: 3  When I am afraid, I put my trust in you. John 14: 1  Jesus said, “Don’t be troubled. The Lord's Prayer: Crafts, games and prayer activities

On Saturday, Powersource explored the Lord's Prayer, looking creatively at every section.  Here's how we broke it down and what we did.  Some activities have links to posts which will explain in more detail.  Please note that we had a 3 hour session so that's how we fitted so much in! Warm up- Order the Lord's prayer ( how much can you remember?).  Prayer printed out and cut into strips, mixed up so they can be put in the correct order.  We made this a race! Our Father in Heaven:   Heaven collage  (a whole group project)   Hallowed be your name: Names of God dominoes   (discussing the many names of God and what they mean to us).
