Saul/Paul on the way to Damascus: Seeing Clearly

This is a fun scientific activity to explore the theme of hidden things being revealed that is a key to the story of Paul's conversion on the road to Damascus.

You will need: A sheet of red cellophane, red colouring pencils, blue or green pencils, white paper

Here is a video of what you need to do:

On Paul's journey to Damascus he encounters Jesus in a way that transforms him. Even though he is temporarily struck blind, Saul/Paul's eyes are opened to who Jesus really is.

Write words about or draw a picture of Jesus with your non-red pencil and then hide it with red squiggles. Use the red cellophane to reveal the hidden words!

The red cellophane acts as filter for the red light so only the non-red words or pictures will be seen.

Button Prayers

If you are looking for an active, kinaesthetic, way of praying in a small group or even with the whole congregation, then this might be for you! You will need: A collection of buttons of different shapes, sizes and colours- at least one button for each person praying. Give everyone a button. Feel the hardness of the button and think about people who are going through hard times. Ask God to help them. Buttons are used to fasten clothes together. Ask God to bring together people who have fallen out and moved apart from each other. Pray that He will bring peace. Look at your button and see how many holes it has. I used this idea in an assembly yesterday, focussing on people we trust and what it means to trust God. This would work really well if you are exploring miracle stories or stories about trust. The Lord's Prayer: Crafts, games and prayer activities

On Saturday, Powersource explored the Lord's Prayer, looking creatively at every section. Here's how we broke it down and what we did. Some activities have links to posts which will explain in more detail. Please note that we had a 3 hour session so that's how we fitted so much in!
