Reflective painting

One of the new prayer activities for this term is reflective painting.

We started off with a long piece of wallpaper on which I'd drawn a simple picture representing the 'Light of the world'.  In our prayer station time, children can choose to paint it.  It was really interesting how quiet they were doing this, even though there were about 6 of them gathered round the painting joining in!  It was also interesting to see how much care they took and the colours they chose to represent what they saw as the meaning of the picture.  Some interesting conversations happened about what the picture was about and why they had chosen the colours they were using.

This is our picture after one session.  We'll keep on until it's finished and then display it on the wall!
